Performative Lesung von Käthe Kruse
Since 15 April, Galerie Nord | Kunstverein Tiergarten has been presenting a daily 90-second performative reading with Käthe Kruse on Facebook and Instagram. She reads her cycle of works 366 Days.
For this cycle, Käthe Kruse extracted 25 headlines per day from a German-language daily newspaper such as Taz, Tagesspiegel or Süddeutsche Zeitung over a period of four years. She used headlines from the fields of society, politics, economy, ecology and culture without distinction. When selecting headlines, she relied solely on her artistic and political intuition. Stored in a calendar, she collected a contingent of sentences and nouns during this period – a subjective archive of recent contemporary history in the most concise form – that does not seem to follow any fixed system of content, but in the stringent chronological juxtaposition and artistic transformation creates an absurd and also disturbing social picture.
